London startup Curio uses OpenAI services to deliver news in audio format

Curio, a London-based audio journalism platform, has raised an undisclosed figure from TED head, Chris Anderson, and other investors. The service licenses content from over 30 news sources such as The Guardian, The Washington Post and The New Yorker, and uses AI to provide bespoke audio episodes to its subscribers.

The company partnered with OpenAI's GPT-3 AI model to create Rio, an AI assistant that subscribers can ask questions to that automatically responds with a podcast-like episode, including fact-checked content.

The app aims to leverage AI to combat the spread of fake news propagated by chatbots generating incorrect content.
